GForce update Oberheim OB-E and SEM

GForce Software have released Oberheim OB‑E v2.5 and Oberheim SEM v1.5, marking the first anniversary of their official collaboration with Oberheim. These updates provide a new preset browser that was first used in Oddity3 late last year.

After hearing the original GForce OB-E (reviewed in SOS June 2021) GForce were contacted by Tom Oberheim and Marcus Ryle (an Oberheim engineer in the 1980s) who were impressed enough to suggest a collaboration offering support to refine OB-E and to release the v2 update carrying their full endorsement. Oberheim OB-E v2 featured a refined Detune feature and a new Vintage control, aimed to deliver more realistic musical inaccuracies in line with the original hardware instrument.

The update to v2.5 includes GForce’s new preset browser which allows the user to tag, sort and search presets, offering easier organisation and management. The factory presets have also been re-tagged by category, type and timbre. Oberheim OB-E v2.5 also features an exponential filter tracking mode.

Oberheim SEM has been updated to v1.5 and also welcomes the new preset browser and re-tagging of factory presets.
