Grab your waveforms with Akai's MPC Touch

7-inch touchscreen, RGB backlit pads, phrase looper added to MPC

The MPC is an absolute classic. It has featured on countless productions and has existed in various forms since its introduction in 1988. Today Akai Pro have announced the latest, and rather exciting new addition to the MPC line: The MPC Touch.

The new design paired a 4x4 RGB backlit grid of velocity sensitive pads with a  bright 7-inch touchscreen to create an MPC that Akai are calling “the most capable and user-friendly music production controller Akai Pro has developed to date.”

The MPC Touch lets you literally grab and pinch waveforms, draw MIDI events, adjust envelopes, chop samples, add effects and precisely set your controls using your fingertips. Combined with the classic MPC feel, sound and award-winning pads, the Touch “embodies the best elements of [Akai’s] past while taking music production gear into the future” say its makers.

What’s more, it also features a phrase looper which takes advantage of a built-in 2-in, 2-out audio interface, a step sequencer, XY FX control, mixer, sample editor and 20GB of sound content.

The MPC Touch will ship in November and carries an MSRP of £499.99. We can’t wait to get our hands on one.
