Guildhall School of Music & Drama are running a four-day Music Production in Logic Pro program as part of their selection of in-person courses over the Easter break. Open to attendees aged from 13 to 17, the course is aimed at beginners and those with a basic understanding of music production who wish to gain the skills to independently write and produce their own music.
Learners will be guided through the basics of Logic Pro, as well as being introduced to MIDI, synthesis, plug-ins and audio editing techniques. Each day will begin with live sessions and exercises that will provide attendees with an opportunity to get to know the other participants, followed by classes that cover topics such as composition, sound design, beat making, production skills and the fundamentals of mixing audio. Participants will be encouraged to produce and develop their own tracks each day, with the aim of having a finished three-minute track by the end of the course.
The course is being taught by professor of Electronic Music Ieva Vaiti, a Lithuanian producer and sound designer who developed an interest in music and technology whilst training as a violinist at the Purcell School. She graduated with a first in Electronic Music from Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and has been working within the commercial and independent arts sector ever since. Alongside her Guildhall role, she currently works as a composer and sound designer at Brain Audio studios in London and releases her own music under the pseudonym Piksel.
All of the necessary equipment will be provided, although participants are welcome to bring their own headphones should they wish.
The course will take place at Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London between Monday 3 April and Thursday 6 April 2023, and will run from 10:00 until 17:00 each day. It will cost £440, with bookings being accepted until 17:00 on Wednesday 29 March 2023.
