Plug-in simplifies multi-band dynamics processing

Minimal Audio Fuse Compressor multi-band dynamics plug-in macro controls mid-side stereo

Minimal Audio’s latest plug-in, Fuse Compressor, has been designed to simplify the process of setting up multi-band compression, providing users with a set of helpful tools that allow them to focus on their music rather than working through complex parameters. Up to six bands of upwards or downwards compression can be introduced, and once everything is up and running, there are still plenty of in-depth controls on offer for those wanting to fine-tune the results.

A large central display provides detailed visual feedback on the behaviour of each band, displaying exactly how the compressor is reacting across the target material’s frequency range. Macro controls allow the ratios and thresholds of all bands to be adjusted simultaneously to quickly apply compression before making more detailed adjustments, and a Spectral Tilt function offers a fast way to change the distribution of processing between low- and high-frequency content. A variable Adaptive Time parameter then automatically adjusts the attack and release times of each band to quickly create different compression characters.

Despite its initial simplicity, Fuse Compressor is still equipped with a comprehensive selection of parameters that afford users a detailed level of control over its processing. Thresholds, ratios and make-up gain can be adjusted on a per-band basis, whilst solo and mute functions make it easy to audition exactly what each band is doing and fine-tune its settings. It is also possible to combine stereo and mid-side compression, with variable channel linking allowing the plug-in to be used to control the stereo image of the source material.

The plug-in comes loaded with a range of presets that cover a range of different use cases, and offer everything from subtle, transparent compression through to more aggressive compression that can be used more as a creative effect.

Fuse Compressor is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 10.9 and above. It is available in VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in formats.
