Nembrini Audio are an audio plug-in developer who specialise in producing digital recreations of analogue saturation circuits. Their latest release, the MP1 Pro Programmable Tube Guitar Amplifier, is based on the iconic ADA MP-1 guitar preamp and also includes a range of built-in effects, amp and microphone modelling features, along with support for third-party impulse responses.
The plug-in’s preamp section is based around a pair of modelled 12AX7 valves, and offers a choice of three virtual circuits: Distortion Tube, Clean Tube, and Solid State, which are selectable via a Voicing button. In addition to the Gain control, there is a four-band EQ with Bass, Mid, Treble, and Presence controls. Each band is adjustable in 2dB steps, with Bass and Treble featuring a ±16dB range, and the Mid and Presence controls providing ±12dB of adjustment.
MP1 Pro is also equipped with a range of effects and processors that include a delay, a hall reverb, a noise gate, a compressor, and a modulation effect that can be configured to behave either as a tremolo or a chorus. The effects can be engaged via a set of buttons alongside the plug-in’s preamp section, and each have a set of editable parameters that are displayed along the top of the GUI.
Cabinets & IR
Six different guitar cabinet models are provided, along with four microphone emulations. There are two microphone slots within the GUI, allowing users to employ any two of the emulations at a time, with each section equipped with its own independent Position and Distance controls, along with an Off Axis switch. A built-in mixer provides control over the virtual signals, with individual level, pan, solo, mute, and polarity controls available for each microphone.
As well as the built-in cabinet models, the plug-in also supports third-party impulse response files. Users are able to import up to three files, and blend them with the plug-in’s signal using dedicated level and pan controls.
MP1 Pro is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.9 and higher. It authorised via iLok, but does not require a physical dongle. VST2, VST3, AAX, and AU plug-in versions are available. There is also an iOS version available via Apple’s App Store, which works as a stand-alone app, AUv3 plug-in, or Inter-App Audio effect.
