Nembrini Audio’s latest plug-in aims to recreate the sound of Fender’s hugely popular Twin Reverb amp. Equipped with Normal and Vibrato channels and packing in a variety of mic and cabinet emulation, Double Reverb Guitar Amplifier is said to faithfully reproduce the sound of the original hardware and offer a responsive, realistic playing experience.
The company say that the plug-in models every component used in the popular design, from the 12AX7 preamp valves to the 6L6GC-based power amp section, along with the built-in spring reverb and dynamic vibrato effect. Both the Normal and Vibrato channels are equipped with their own volume control and a three-band EQ section, while the reverb delivers everything from a subtle shimmer to surf-style wash sounds. As with the original amp, the vibrato effect comes equipped with Speed and Intensity controls that offer a wide range of modulation effects.
Double Reverb also comes equipped with a choice of six different cabinet emulations, as well as four virtual microphones with a switchable off-axis option and continuously adjustable position and distance controls. A Mixer section allows both mics to be blended with an ambience signal, and those wishing to customise their tone further can import up to three third-party impulse response files, all of which are equipped with their own panning and level controls. There’s also a set of Tight, Rumbling and Harsh filters designed to tackle problematic frequencies, and a noise gate equipped with Threshold, Range and Gate parameters.
Compatibility
Double Reverb is supported on Windows and macOS platforms and iOS devices. VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available. Authorisation is carried out via PACE’s iLok system, although a USB dongle is not required.
