Output — makers of Signal, Rev and Exhale — have announced a new bass instrument called Substance designed for the modern producer, composer, musician and sound designer.
The new instrument combines heavily processed samples of electric and acoustic basses, real brass sections, some truly filthy analogue synths, and sound design elements. Substance the then blends these elements together, three layers at a time, with layer and global FX, filters, modulation, an advanced arpeggiator, flux control and macros. And with 300 presets out of the gate, there should be enough wall-shaking possibilities to be getting on with.
“Our goal with SUBSTANCE was to create a bass engine that was not focused on emulation, but rather, on pushing the envelope with creative and powerful new sounds," says Output Founder Gregg Lehrman. “It's our most sophisticated engine to date and you can really get a sense of that from the first note.”
Substance is available now from output.com and is priced at $199.
