Sampleson release Tactile

Create soundscapes from any audio file

Sampleson Tactile ambient cinematic soundscape plug-in virtual instrument

Sampleson have announced the launch of a new plug-in that’s capable of turning any audio file into playable ambient textures. Tactile combines a ‘spectral freezing’ technique with granular synthesis, and features an X-Y interface that allows users to blend between layers of audio and create continually evolving soundscapes.

Available as a plug-in and standalone application, Tactile’s engine combines a ‘spectral freezer’ — a processor that works by isolating points of time within audio files — with a pair of granular processors that continuously resample and blend the sound sources. Users are able to interact with the software using a grid-style interface that has the X and Y axes mapped to the two sources, with swiping, gliding and tapping motions offering expressive control over the generated soundscapes.

“Your trackpad becomes an instrument. Instead of triggering notes, you’re shaping sound with movement. It’s intuitive, immersive, and gives you total freedom to explore.” - Augusto Filocamo, Developer, Sampleson
