sE Electronics have recently announced the launch of the sE6160, a new shotgun mic that’s been designed to deliver pristine, directional sound capture across a range of applications including live stages, broadcast booths, film sets and podcast studios.
Developed for use in live performance settings, the sE6160 is available as a standalone microphone or in a precision-matched stereo pair. Boasting an ultra-tight polar pattern and natural sound signature, the company say that the new addition to their range offers high gain before feedback and outstanding off-axis rejection, making it ideal as an ambient mic for in-ear monitor systems, on-location dialogue or capturing immersive crowd ambience without colouration.
The mic is built around a new, in-house-designed and handcrafted true condenser capsule that delivers accurate, detailed audio with low self-noise and high reliability. Each capsule is individually tuned at sE’s factory to ensure consistent, world-class performance. There’s a switchable low-cut filter and pad, and despite its robust, road-ready die-cast housing, the sE6160 is remarkably lightweight, making it a great choice for boom operators, mobile broadcasters and touring crews alike.
