sE Electronics have re-introduced their sE4400 and T2 multi-pattern large-diaphragm condenser microphones. The new updated versions deliver the same sound as the originals whilst offering a selection of design improvements.
Both models now feature an updated shockmount design that has been built with close miking techniques in mind, and new reinforced spring steel wire mesh grilles and all-metal die-cast body housing help to ensure that the mircophones are well protected during heavy use in both studio and live applications. The sE4400 comes with a gold-sputtered capsule, whilst the T2 is equipped with a titanium-sputtered capsule; both are dual-diaphragm designs and are hand-crafted. In addition to the construction improvements, both models also now feature a new polished finish.
As before, the sE4400 is available as a single microphone or as a factory-matched pair, and due to popular demand, the T2 is also now being offered in a matched-pair configuration. When purchased in this configuration, sE say that the pairs are rigorously tested and tuned in-house, and are sonically matched to ensure a virtually identical frequency response, resulting in a balanced and consistent sound.
