Softube Console 1We recently reported that Softube's plug-ins had been ported over to the UAD platform, but now, in a shift away from their software-only background, they have annouced "an integrated hardware/software music mixing solution."
This entails a new controller, called Console 1, which comes with a fully-integrated channel strip plug-in. Key features include a 4-band EQ and compressor modelled on an SSL 4000 series console, and Softube's own Dynamic Shape processor for gating, expansion and transient shaping.
The channel strip can be customised using any of Softube's other EQs and compressors and control can still be achieved via the Console 1.
Here's more from Softube but expect a video from Musikmesse very soon.
Press Relese: Softube, acclaimed developer of pro audio software, is proud to announce Console 1—an integrated hardware/software music mixing solution.
Softube Console 1 allows the user perform an entire mix with a world-class modeled mixer channel, controlled by physical knobs and buttons on a rugged piece of hardware. The system can be used in conjunction with any major DAW host and the software can be inserted on any or all channels of the mix.
Included in the purchase of a Softube Console 1 system is the Console 1 hardware and software, including the new UK 4k for Console 1. UK 4k is a model of a well-known large-frame British mixing console, along with a few additions. The channel consists of several sections, including the original's equalizer and compressor, modeled mixing console saturation and Softube's unique Dynamic Shape—a combined expander/gate and transient shaper.
For further sonic variation, the mixer channel of the Console 1 software can be customized by using any Softube equalizer or compressor in the software's mix chain, and new mixer channel models for Console 1 will be released in the future.
The USB powered hardware is a heavy and rugged piece that puts the user in perfect control of the mix and any aspect of the Console 1 system. The hardware does not only control the effect's settings, but also allows the user to switch channels, toggle the On-Screen Display on/off, load other plug-ins into the mixer chain, group channels and much more. The LED meters and circles around each knob provide instant visual feedback, so it's possible to perform a full mix without even looking on the computer screen, for an analog-like workflow and mix experience.
Console 1 will be available in stores after summer of 2013.
