Sontronics Delta

Active ribbon microphone
Following in the footsteps of the Sontronics Sigma active ribbon mic is the Delta, a ruggedised version designed to provide a similar sound, but be more durable. It’s aimed at the live sound market, where ribbon mics are seeing a bit of a popularity surge, but can, according to the manufacturers, also be used in the studio to good effect.

On stage, Sontronics say that the Delta sounds great on guitar amps, while in the studio, it’s capable of capturing the subtle nuances of acoustic instruments. The microphone has a 20Hz to 15kHz frequency response, can accept maximum SPLs of 135dB and, being of the active variety, requires phantom power to operate. It costs £499 including VAT and is available now.
