The ARIA has proved to be a popular member of the Sontronics family, finding its way into studios around the world and being put to work by artists such as Adele and Ed Sheeran. Now, the company have announced the launch of the ARIA 2, a redesigned version that builds on the legacy of its successor.
Built around a newly designed large-diaphragm capsule that’s been developed in-house by the Sontronics team, the new and improved version of the ARIA is said to be capable of delivering a more open sound with “beautifully balanced mids and detailed high frequencies”. The internal circuitry has been updated, too, with the refreshed design resulting in greater sensitivity, lower self-noise and a cleaner, more dynamic signal. Sontronics say that the new addition to the line-up is well suited to everything from high-end recording studios to remote voiceover setups, and will help vocals, spoken word and acoustic instruments sit naturally in a mix with minimal processing.
Along with the technical improvements, the ARIA 2 comes housed in a sleek new black finish with gold accents. Each unit is hand-built at the company’s UK facility, and is backed by their lifetime warranty. The mic comes supplied in a custom ABS flightcase.
“The ARIA was one of our most-loved microphones, but we knew we could push things even further. With ARIA 2, we’ve retained the soul of the original while refining every element of its design and performance.” - Miles Ward, Product Manager, Sontronics
