Steinberg get set for The Grand 2

New version of piano software instrument is imminent

Steinberg have set a release date of June the 15th for version 2 of their sample-based software instrument The Grand.
The Grand 2 features a second, completely new grand piano, plus sampled key-click, pedal and hammer sounds for added realism.
It can operate in four-channel surround, and the Room Options window (shown below) lets the user freely position the piano within a virtual two-dimensional room and adjust the ambience characteristic.
Coupled with these new features, Steinberg have incorporated the ‘RAM Save’ technology found in their Halion 3 sampler, which allows the user to freeze the instrument’s settings and unload any samples that aren’t needed, thus freeing up memory.
There’s also an Eco mode which offers improved performance by using fewer samples when you’re just roughing out your ideas.
The Grand 2 supports VST, Direct X and Audio Units plug-in formats, is Rewire-compatible and can operate in stand-alone mode. A Steinberg Key dongle is required. The Grand 2 is set to cost £169.99 and registered users of version 1 will be able to upgrade for the reduced price of £69.99.
