Techivation unveil AI-Clarity plug-in

Automatically targets problematic resonances

Techivation AI-Clarity dynamic resonance suppressor plug-in clear up boxiness muddiness harshness

Described as a “dynamic resonance suppressor”, Techivation’s latest plug-in is said to be able to identify and eliminate problematic frequencies, helping users to keep their tracks sounding crystal clear. AI-Clarity is the latest member of the company’s AI plug-in family, all of which use machine learning to expand on the capabilities of the M-Series offerings, and promise to speed up the creative process while delivering outstanding audio quality and ease of use.

As you might expect, it’s capable of adapting its processing to suit the source material, and hitting the Learn button will capture 3.5 seconds of audio upon which the generated settings are based — Techivation recommend playing the busiest part of a track to obtain the best results. With the learning process complete, a row of text along the top of the GUI will indicate the settings that have been created, and the overall intensity of the processing can be set using a Clarity control. Both left/right and Mid-Side modes are provided, with the latter ensuring that the stereo balance of the track is left unaltered.

An Output control provides a clean gain control after the processing has taken place, and a Diff button makes it possible to audition the difference between the pre-and post-processing signals, allowing users to judge exactly what the plug-in is doing and adjust the Clarity settings accordingly.

As with the company’s other offerings, the plug-in includes some useful tools such as built-in undo and redo functions and an internal bypass button that has been designed to avoid clicks and other artifacts that may occur when using the bypass function in a DAW mixer. A range of GUI scaling options (50 – 150 %) are also provided.

AI-Clarity is supported on PCs running Windows 7 or higher, and Macs running macOS 10.15 and above. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
