Rigid Audio have announced the launch of a free piano instrument for Native Instruments’ Kontakt platform.
Created using their own Kontakt GUI Maker software, Rigid Grand occupies just 1.5GB of disk space, but comes loaded with a set of high-quality piano samples spread across 16 velocity layers. a set of three parameters offer control over the samples’ release time, a built-in reverb effect and finally, the ability to blend in an additional layer of identical piano samples that have been pitched down by one octave.
For those interested in designing and making their own Kontakt instruments, the company have also released a video demonstrating how Rigid Grand was created and configured using Kontakt GUI Maker, check it out below to see how it’s done!
Compatibility
Rigid Grand runs in Native Instruments Kontakt version 6.8.0 and above, or later, which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or 11, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and above. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available along with a standalone application.
Availability
Rigid Grand is available now, and is free to download. It’s worth noting, however, that it does require the full version of Kontakt, and is not compatible with the free Kontakt Player.
