Rigid Audio have announced that Synferno, a loop-based Kontakt instrument aimed at electronic music and trailer scoring, is now available as a free download.
Synferno’s interface is divided into four individual sections (Bass, Synth, Ambient and Groove), each of which can be used to trigger and process one of the instrument’s 1300 WAV loops. A collection of preset ‘kits’ are included, each containing a set of four loops, and it’s possible for users to swap out individual elements to create their own custom patches.
Along with per-loop panning, time-stretching, reverb and EQ controls, the instrument is equipped with a dedicated effects page that includes a tempo-sync’able band-pass filter, delay, flanger and step gate sections. Some additional creative control is on offer thanks to a built-in sequencer that can be used to modulate the likes of sample and loop offset, or create interesting gating and sample-slicing effects.
SOS Review
We put the instrument to the test in SOS January 2017, click here to check out our review.
Compatibility
Synferno runs in Native Instruments Kontakt version 6.8.0 and above, or later, which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or 11, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and above. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.
Availability
Synferno is available now, and is free to download. It’s worth noting that it does require the full version of Kontakt, and is not compatible with the free Kontakt Player version.
