Techivation have announced the launch of the latest M-Series plug-in, M-De-Esser 2. Promising to take spectral de-essing to the next level, the latest version of the plug-in is said to feature significant improvements across the board, boasting enhanced audio quality and precision along with some new intelligent features.
The plug-in retains Techivation’s signature look, with a large central Sensitivity control joined by input and output meters, Air and Mix controls. The lower half of the GUI is occupied by a set of fine-tuning controls, with Fast, Med and Slow response-time buttons complemented by Strength and Focus parameters, as well as options for processing the input signal in left/right and Mid-Sides modes and focusing the de-essing on a user-defined frequency range.
First up in the list of new features is an Adaptive Processing Range function, which allows the plug-in to intelligently adjust its settings based on the content of the incoming audio signal. The company say that the feature allows the plug-in to adapt to different vocal and instrument recordings without the need for users to constantly adjust their settings manually. There’s also an AI Mix Assistant feature that will analyse incoming audio and suggest optimal settings for controlling sibilance, along with a Selective Sibilance Targeting mode that makes it possible to define how selective the processor is when targeting problematic frequencies. Techivation say that the underlying spectral processing that powers the plug-in has also been treated to an overhaul.

M-De-Esser 2 is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.15 or higher. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
