Launched in 2018, Arturia’s Drumbrute Impact offered a packed-down version of their popular Drumbrute instrument, delivering a wealth of analogue drum sounds in a more compact and affordable package. Now, the company have announced the upcoming launch of the Drumbrute Impact 1984, a re-release version that sports a vintage-inspired off-white finish.
Aside from the new aesthetics, the formula for the instrument remains the same. It still packs in a collection of 10 all-analogue drum sounds (kick, snares, toms, hats, cowbell, cymbal and FM), along with the per-instrument or per-step Color control, which makes it possible to drive each sound a little harder to introduce some additional harmonic content. As for programming, the instrument boasts four banks of 16 patterns, each of which can include up to 64 steps, as well as offering a selection of performance-based tools such as Swing and Randomness functions and a Polyrhythm feature that allows each instrument to be assigned its own individual pattern length.
Connectivity wise, the Drumbrute Impact 1984 retains the same I/O configuration, with master and headphone outputs joined by independent outputs for kick, snares, hats and FM. MIDI I/O is provided by five-pin DIN sockets and via USB, and there are Clock I/O connectors for getting the instrument sync’ed up with other compatible hardware.
We put the original Drumbrute Impact through its paces in SOS October 2018, take a look at our full review to find out more.
