Universal Audio launch Ocean Way Studios Deluxe

Captures rooms, reverb chambers & vintage gear

Universal Audio Ocean Way Studios Deluxe room reverb chamber vintage analogue gear emulation plug-in

Universal Audio have just introduced a new plug-in that delivers a powerful new and improved version of their renowned Ocean Way Studios offering.

Powered by the company’s Dynamic Room Modeling technology, Ocean Way Studios Deluxe promises to capture the dimension, warmth and depth of the studio that shaped hit records from the likes of Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, Radiohead and Beck. It includes meticulous emulations of the legendary facility’s Studio a and Studio B spaces, allowing DAW users to place their vocal and instrument tracks in a virtual recreation of the historic rooms.

As well as emulating the space itself, the latest version of the plug-in also comes loaded with models of the studios’ reverb chambers, consoles and outboard gear. Recreations of the Focusrite and Dalcon consoles are joined by a selection of sought-after processors including a Fairchild compressor/limiter, a Teletronix LA-2A and of course, some 1176 compressors.

What’s New?

Here’s a quick overview of what’s been introduced in the new version of the plug-in:

  • UAD Native plug-in available as a perpetual license or with a UAD Spark subscription.
  • Includes three Bill Putnam Sr.-designed reverb chambers.
  • Features iconic gear from Ocean Way Studio’s collection:
    • Studio A: Focusrite 110 EQ and cut filters2.
    • Studio B: Dalcon console with API 550A EQ2.
    • Classic dynamics: Fairchild 670, LA-2A, 1176LN and dbx 160.
  • A-Type Air and Crush dynamics processors.
  • New re-miking systems:
    • UREI 813: Bill Putnam’s iconic dual 15-inch coaxial monitors.
    • Altec A-2: Massive folded-horn cabinets used for decades at Ocean Way.
  • Fully reimagined retina graphics and interface, curated presets and flexible routing options.

“With Ocean Way Studios Deluxe, we wanted to bring creators even closer to the sound of these historic rooms. It’s a complete reimagining of one of our most beloved plug-ins — now featuring the chambers, analog consoles, and re-miking setups — rebuilt from the ground up for modern music producers on any system.” - Lev Perrey, VP of Product, Universal Audio
