VSL have announced the launch of a new and improved version of their entry-level orchestral library. Designed for live playing, sketching, quick orchestrations and hybrid scoring, Synchron Smart Orchestra 2.0 introduces a whole host of new features including the company’s new Flow View GUI option, additional solo instruments and an expanded set of articulations.
Synchron Smart Orchestra 2.0 is a powerful and versatile library that maps an entire orchestra across the keyboard, allowing users to play the whole ensemble or individual sections with their left hand while triggering solo or lead instruments with their right hand. More detailed arrangements can be created by placing several instances of the plug-in across separate DAW tracks, each loaded with either the full orchestra, an orchestra section or a lead instrument.
All of the instruments and ensembles featured were performed by members of the acclaimed Vienna Synchron Orchestra and recorded on the large Stage a of VSL’s Synchron Stage Vienna facility. The tutti and section elements of the library include strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and choir; they can be played separately or simultaneously, with the library’s mixer providing control over the levels of each ensemble. The selection of lead instruments has been expanded for the new version, and now includes solo violin, solo cello, violin ensemble, cello ensemble, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, horn, harp and celesta. Version 2.0 also includes a greater selection of articulations, with all solo instruments gaining new staccato, sforzato and lyrical legato options.
With the launch of version 2.0, Synchron Smart Orchestra now offers VSL's intuitive new Flow View GUI option.
VSL’s existing Smart Spheres and Smart Hits library packs are now available as part of Synchron Smart Orchestra 2.0, augmenting its traditional content with a range of modern electronic and organic textures, effects and sound-design elements that are well suited to hybrid scoring applications.
Compatibility
Synchron Smart Orchestra 2.0 is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 11 and above. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.

Synchron Smart Orchestra 2.0 is available now, and is currently (21 February 2025) being offered at an introductory price of $209€199, reduced from its full cost of $282€269.
