Back in 2024, CB Electronics made a leap into the world of modular synths with the ER-Range, a trio of modules that brought the power of their digitally controlled studio patching systems to Eurorack rigs. The latest addition to the range has just been announced, but this time the focus is on inputs rather than routing tools.
The ER-MicAmp, as you might have guessed from its name, is a preamp module that offers a way to integrate mic, line-level and instrument signals into a Eurorack setup. Input signals are accepted by an XLR/TRS combo socket, while 3.5mm Insert Out and In patch points allow the signal to be routed to other modules before returning to a front-panel XLR output. Envelope follower, trigger and gate out patch points are provided, making it possible to employ the module for tasks such as triggering signal chains with a vocal, or setting up side-chain ducking using an external VCA module.
As with the existing ER-Patch16, ER-Patch32 and ER-Gain & Sum modules, the ER-MicAmp is compatible with CB Electronics’ XPatch App software, which offers full digital control and recall of all settings.
