Gainlab Audio unveil the Wizard Stereo Tube Saturator

Based on popular Tube Boost function

Gainlab Audio Wizard TS-1 stereo valve tube saturation outboard

Just ahead of the NAMM Show 2025, Gainlab Audio have announced the upcoming launch of a new product that expands on the popular Tube Boost function found in their EQ and compressor designs. The Wizard has been designed to provide users with a versatile saturation device capable of adding some analogue warmth to individual tracks, buses or full mixes.

Gainlab say that many of their users have reported that the most-used feature on their devices is the Tube Boost function, which intentionally drives the valve-based circuitry harder for effect. As a result, they set about designing a unit dedicated to saturation, with a more in-depth set of controls that ensure its sound can be tailored to suit a wide range of different material.

Large Input and Output controls at either side of the front panel allow users to precisely dial in the amount of saturation required, while a Feed dial uses the unprocessed input signal to suppress the clean signal remaining at the devices output, providing additional control over the amount of distortion applied. The unit is also allows users to adjust the bias of the valves.

The Wizard also offers some comprehensive tone-shaping thanks to a three-band EQ section. A switchable first- or second-order high-pass filter is joined by low- and high-shelf bands that each offer ±12dB of gain, and can be toggled between 50/100 Hz and 10/20 kHz respectively. The midrange band then offers ±6dB of gain, and is joined by a selector switch that allows the band to be placed at 300Hz, 480Hz, 550Hz, 710Hz, 1kHz or 2kHz. Finally, some dynamic control is on offer courtesy of a Pressure control, which provides some simple vari-mu-style compression.
