Focusing on all things deep, dramatic and atmospheric, Gothic Instruments’ Droner series of sample libraries has proved popular with sound designers and media composers. Now the company have released the Dronar Master Edition, a single instrument that lets you mix, match, layer and combine sounds from all of these libraries to create a near-endless variety of pads, patterns and atmospheres.
Running in Native Instruments’ free Kontakt Player, Dronar Master Edition collects together all of the content from the first eight Dronar “modules” — Hybrid, Guitarscapes, Live Strings, Dark Synthesis, Cinematic Atmospheres, Vintage Synth, Brass and Metal & Glass. That adds up to an astonishing 50GB of uncompressed samples and over 2000 presets. Gothic have stuck to the tried-and-tested Dronar interface, which lets you blend low, mid, high and FX layers, each composed of two different raw samples. While the main page of the interface is all about immediacy and ease of use, there's scope to go much deeper and animate the eight sounds in use via the LFOs, rhythm sequencer and arpeggiators. Despite this, the Master Edition promises an efficient, CPU-friendly engine, and it’s also NKS-compatible for integration with NI’s Komplete Kontrol keyboards and Maschine hardware.
DRONAR Master Edition is available now with a 20% intro discount (making it £247) until 18th September plus there’s special upgrade pricing with discounts of up to 96% for existing DRONAR module customers. See the product page for full details.
