Shoegaze-inspired library captures distorted guitar tones

The Crow Hill Company Guitar Hive Fender Telecaster distorted sound design composer sample library

The latest addition to The Crow Hill Company’s growing sample library and virtual instrument line-up brings combines a vast collection of guitar samples with a whole host of built-in effects modules. Said to be unlike any sample library you’ve heard before, Guitar Filth promises to deliver instantaneous “guitar landscapes” inspired by the likes of Nick Drake, The Cure, Johnny Marr, The Edge and more.

The library captures the sound of a Fender Telecaster played through a Thermionic Culture Rooster channel strip, and offers a choice of DI, Deluxe Amp and Overdriven signals. A Filth control makes it possible to blend seamlessly between the three signals, allowing each patch to evolve from subtle, elegant tones to all-out distorted soundscapes. In addition to the processing already applied to the source samples, the library includes a selection of built-in effects modules including a granular reverb, tape-inspired echo and delay, an algorithmic reverb, and a distortion module for those looking for something even more aggressive.

“If The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Brian Eno’s work with Daniel Lanois and The Edge, and Pat Metheny’s work with Steve Reich on ‘Electric Counterpoint’ are your thing — and if you use your shoes to gaze at more than walk on — then we think you’ve come to the right place.” - Christian Henson, Founder, The Crow Hill Company
