Melodyne Essential, a cut-down version of Celemony’s much-respected pitch and timing manipulation software, has just been made available as a stand-alone product, it has been announced. (Previously, it was only available bundled with third-party hardware.) The new Essential version apparently emphasises Melodyne’s most important and frequently used parameters, making it fast and easy to use. The technology behind it remains the same as for the full-fat version, however, so apart from tweakability its sound should remain uncompromised.
Like Melodyne, in can be run either in stand-alone mode or as a plug-in, and it comes in VST, AU and RTAS flavours. It also offers full support for 64-bit operating systems (both Windows and OS X), and projects created in the full version can be opened in Melodyne Essential, and vice versa.
Melodyne Essential carries a price of $99, but those buying it before the end of the year will get it for the special discount price of just $69.
