British company Rycote have long been recognised as one of the leading microphone mount and accessory manufacturers. Their InVision shockmounts in particular have been a huge success, and are now regularly supplied with premium studio microphones.
The company's newest products, however, are aimed at the location sound market. The Rycote PCS (Professional Connection System) range comprises various boom arms, grips and windshields, and central to it is the PCS-Boom Connector (£85.95), which adds 'quick release' capability to any mic boom, and is compatible with a huge number of Rycote accessories. New to the range are the PCS-Spigot (£61.95), which provides compatibility with the popular Manfrotto range of lighting stands, and the PCS-Utility Kit (£69.95), which enables mounting of microphones, shockmounts, windshields and lighting accessories to trusses, scaffolding poles and other rigging hardware.
Rycote have also introduced a number of stands and grips to the series, like the articulated PCS-Artic Arm (£122.95, pictured) and the PCS-Sound Stand, an aluminium mic stand with a maximum height of 79cm, designed for low-level use.
