Based on their acclaimed Slower instrument, the latest addition to e-instruments' Fragments series introduces a free virtual instrument that delivers the “evocative warmth and warped textures of half-speed tape recordings”.
Slower Fragment captures the sound of four tape machines, and is said to offer a diverse range of sounds that are perfect for adding depth and character to any project. The included samples range from warm, tape-worn pianos and lush sounding string and wind sounds through to gritty synth textures, while a trio of macro controls offer simultaneous control over saturation, delay, space, wobble and reverse textures parameters.
The company say that the free offering has been designed to ignite instant inspiration, and offer a taste of the half-speed tape sound that defines its paid-for counterpart. For those who are seeking deeper control, the full version of Slower features 230 presets (there are six provided with Slower Fragment) across 65 sound sources, extended modulation and effects controls and more advanced sound-shaping possibilities.
