Stands out in the crowd
Having graced the market in recent years with their range of mics and preamps, UK-based hardware company Sontronics have added to their line a heavy-duty mic stand.
Called the Matrix 10, its centre pole extends from 1.2m to 1.7m, while its telescopic, counterbalanced boom arm can reach up to 2.25m. The counterweight on the boom is made from cast iron and can be moved up and down the boom arm.
The Matrix 10 comes with a three-wheeled dolly, on to which the regular tripod section of the device can be mounted. Each dolly wheel has a footbrake, which ensure the stand remains still, and the dolly frame collapses into a soft carry case for easy transportation. The stand can apparently support up to six kilograms, which is the combined weight of 20 AKG C414s — enough for most applications we reckon!
