Vintage audio gear gurus Soundgas have announced the launch of Gasaways, a new project that will offer monthly exclusive sample packs that have been created in the Soundgas Studio, with each purchase including an entry into a monthly prize draw.
The first Gasaway is already live, and the main prize is none other than a vintage Roland RE-201 Space Echo that’s been serviced and modified by Soundgas (and would usually sell for around £2400). The second prize is a Fieldtone Weaver handheld sampler (limited Soundgas edition). Entries close on 26 November, and at the time of their announcement, Soundgas said that there were currently fewer than 800 entries, so the odds of winning a prize are very favourable!

Here’s what Soundgas themselves have to say about the new venture:
“Ten percent of all Gasaways proceeds are donated to music related charities. For November, the donation will go to MAP Charity Leeds. Soundgas will publish the final donation amount and the charity receiving it after each draw concludes.
Gasaways follows the same principles that underpin all Soundgas work. Every sample pack is recorded using real equipment from the Soundgas workshop and studio. This includes serviced Roland Space Echoes, Grampian inspired Soundgas Type 636 series units and various vintage synths, processors and drum machines. If you follow our Instagram feed (@soundgasltd) you’ll know the sort of sounds to expect.
Draws are capped at a maximum of 2500 tickets and the sample pack is offered at a reduced price of £6 (regular price £12). The main prize value will always be in excess of £2,000 and will be a selected piece of sought after vintage gear serviced in the Soundgas workshop (future draws may feature original Soundgas products). Every draw also includes a second prize.
Gasaways is part of Soundgas’ ongoing work to support musicians, producers and studios while keeping real analogue equipment at the centre of the creative process. The project inspires by offering unique new sounds every month and gives away dream machines that are out of reach for many musicians and artists.”
