Multi-pattern condenser microphone
Neumann have announced the TLM67, their first completely new mic for some time. It's the same shape and size as the U87, and features the same three-pattern design, with the choice of cardioid, omni and figure-of-eight polar patterns, a 10dB pad and a low-cut filter. But it uses a different capsule, the K67, which featured in the classic U67.
The TLM67 is a completely solid-state microphone, but it uses special circuitry (first used in the TLM 49) that emulates the tube distortion that gave the U67 its distinct sound. It has a frequency range of 20Hz to 20kHz, and can cope with Sound Pressure Levels (SPLs) of up to 131dB.
It's badged with a commemorative coin, which marks the 80th year of business for Neumann. Also, it sports a two-tone colour scheme, setting it apart from other Neumanns on the market.
