Swedish drum software supremos, Toontrack, have teamed up with producer Steve Albini to release the Alt-Rock EZX — an intentionally crude, and raw palette of drum sounds designed for the soft-loud-soft approach that is synonymous with the distinct dynamics of the classic alt-rock sound.
Albini himself need little introduction, having worked on seminal albums by the Pixies, PJ Harvey and, of course, Nirvana’s milestone record In Utero. The Alt-Rock EZX, recorded at Albini’s Chicago studio Electrical Audio, captures his unique method of mic placement, attention to detail and drum tuning scrutiny.
Inside you’ll find two full kits and cymbal setups (Ludwig Club Date & DW Collector’s Series) as well as five additional snares, two kicks, and five cymbals, five percussion instruments, including 26” and 29” Ludwig timpani drums,
Alt-Rock EZX comes with a selection of MIDI drum grooves inspired by alt-rock music and requires Toontrack EZdrummer 2 or Superior Drummer software to operate.
