Universal Audio’s ever-expanding UAFX guitar pedal family has just gained another member, and this time it's packed with a versatile range of overdrive tones aimed at rock and heavy metal players. ANTI 1992 High Gain Amp captures a 120W high-gain amplifier used by the likes of Slipknot, In Flames, Machinehead and more.
ANTI has been designed specifically to provide the scooped-mid tones that defined the sound of modern metal. It comes equipped with Rhythm, Crunch and Lead channels, as well as a diverse selection of modelled cabinet options. You get three 4x12 variants: UK V30, CA V30 and White 75, and it’s possible to load up three bonus cabinet models (2x12 D65, 4x12 C80 and 4x12 Brown) using the UAFX mobile app.
Top-panel knobs provide hands-on control over settings such as Pre Gain, Presence, Output and Low, Mid and High EQ bands, as well as Overdrive (level and tone) and a built-in noise gate. Along with the amp and cabinet modelling, the pedal also boasts the Dynamic Room Modeling feature found in UA’s innovative OX Amp Top Box units. You also get a collection of factory presets designed by the guitarists of metal giants such as Nevermore, Tetrarch, The Black Dahlia Murder and Arch Enemy.
All of ANTI’s audio connectivity is provided by four rear-panel quarter-inch TS jack sockets, which allow for a full stereo signal path as well as supporting the four-cable connection method. 9V DC power is accepted via a standard 2.1mm centre-negative connector, and the pedal requires a minimum 400mA of current — no PSU is included as standard. There’s also a USB-C port that can be used to update the pedal from a computer.
