Hi-fi and professional recorder makers Marantz have today announced their first product aimed at the growing podcasting market. The MPM-4000U is a USB microphone, based around a 14mm aluminium-plated cardioid capacitor capsule.
In addition to piping digital audio from the microphone to an attached computer or Android/iOS mobile device, the USB connection can also carry a stereo stream from the device for monitoring through the mini-jack headphone output. Controls comprise knobs for microphone gain and headphone level, as well as a latching mute switch.
Included in the box are a mic clip for mounting to a traditional stand, a tripod desktop stand, a USB-C cable, and a copy of the MPC Beats recording software to get you started right away.
The Marantz MPM-4000U podcast mic is available now, and costs £79.99.
