The latest addition to Native Instruments' extensive collection of software instruments has arrived, offering a fun and easy-to-use drum machine that’s been designed using a collection of modular and valve gear. MR1 Valve Data is the first release in a new Modular Rhythm series that has been developed by 10 Phantom Rooms, a company who specialise in creating Kontakt instruments for film and media composers.
The companies say that MR1 takes a new approach to creative drum sounds, allowing users to manipulate multiple parameters with a single control to create new and interesting sounds. It includes a collection of 155 presets, and has been created with over 300 samples that capture the sounds of a range of oscillators, filters and granular effects. An intuitive onboard sequencer makes quick work of programming beats — there’s also a randomiser function for instantly creating new ideas — while some tonal shaping is provided by built-in distortion, tuning, reverb and delay effects.
Compatibility
MR1 Valve Data runs in Native Instruments’ Kontakt (or free Kontakt Player) versions 8.4.1 or higher, which are supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above and Macs running macOS 13 and later. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.
