Just months on from the announcement that their performance-focused stage keyboard is now available with an 88-key hammer-action keybed, Arturia have introduced a third model to the line-up. The AstroLab 37 heads in the other direction to its predecessor, offering a more compact version of the all-in-one instrument aimed at those in search of the ultimate portable setup.
The third member of the AstroLab family comes housed in a rugged enclosure that’s been designed to stand up to the rigours of live performance, and cuts down on size by employing a 37-note slim-key keybed. It still delivers the same programming experience as its larger siblings, with users able to tweak their presets directly on the instrument itself, as well as carrying out more in-depth editing using Arturia’s Analog Lab desktop software or AstroLab Connect mobile app.
There are 44 instruments included, with over 1800 onboard presets spanning a huge selection of classic analogue synth sounds, modern hybrid tones and sampled acoustic instruments — as with the existing instruments, yet more sounds can be obtained through Arturia’s Analog Lab, V Collection and Pigments software instrument ranges. Along with its aftertouch-capable keybed, the AstroLab 37 boasts an onboard arpeggiator, Chord and Scale playing modes, a vocoder, performance modes, hands-on macro controls and up to 12 insert effects slots per preset.
The latest version of the AstroLab packs in the same functionality as its larger siblings, but sports a 37-note keybed.
As for connectivity, the newest arrival to the AstroLab range features MIDI I/O over USB and five-pin DIN sockets, a balanced line-level input and output, a mic input, a USB-A port for hooking up additional MIDI controllers, Bluetooth audio and a pedal input.
