Spitfire Audio have released Aperture: Cassette Symphony, a new and unique sample library that offers the sound of a full symphony orchestra resampled through 200 cassette players at Assumption Studios. As with previous Aperture installments, the company are offering the library for free to anyone who spends $299£249 including VAT / €299 over the course of their Black Weekend sale. After the sale period, it will be available to purchase for $249£199 including VAT / €249.
Aperture: Cassette Symphony
Aperture: Cassette Symphony has been created by arranging 200 cassette players in a classic orchestral positioning, playing back over 800 tapes of orchestral material through 15 speakers, and then capturing their output with a full orchestral microphone setup.
Seven sections are provided, with strings, woodwinds, brass all separated into low and high sections, along with a percussion section, each offering a range of different articulations. As with previous Aperture libraries, users are able to blend between a signal containing a solo player, through to full symphony sections. Two presets are included, Aperture and Worn, with the latter offering a signal further degraded by tape artefacts.
Compatibility
The library runs within Spitfire Audio’s own plug-in, which is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, as well as Macs running macOS X 10.13 to macOS 12 Monterey. It is available in AU, VST2, VST3 and AAX formats, and the library requires 24GB of disk space.
