Tascam launch Model 2400 console

Combines mixer with multitrack recording & DAW control

Tascam Model 2400 analogue mixer recording console built-in multitrack recorder audio interface

Tascam have announced the launch of a new flagship recording console, the Model 2400. As with the other members of the Model family, the console kits out an analogue mixer with multitrack recording, audio interface and DAW control capabilities, but with a more extensive feature set aimed at professional recording and larger-scale live sound applications.

The latest arrival features 12 mono and five stereo inputs (one of which offers wireless connectivity via Bluetooth), four stereo subgroups, five aux sends and an onboard effects section equipped with 16 adjustable presets that span a range of reverb, delay, chorus and flanger effects. All but the last stereo channels have access to a three-band EQ, and the 12 mono channels also benefit from a sweepable mid band and a simple one-knob compressor, while a Master Bus Processor section offers a parametric four-band EQ and compression over the main mix output.

DAW integration is provided by a built-in 24-channel USB audio interface, which makes it possible to record all of the mixer’s individual inputs along with its stereo master output, and the console can also control functions such as transport and per-track record enables via HUI/MCU. Helpfully, connecting to a computer via USB also makes it possible to display meter bridge-style level indicators on a computer screen. The Model 2400 doesn’t need to be connected to a computer to offer multitrack recording, though, as it boasts a built-in 24-channel recorder capable of recording to (and playing back from) SDXC cards up to a capacity of 512GB.
