Imaginando unveil VS 2 visual synthesizer

Improved UI, performance and new creative tools

Imaginando VS 2

Imaginando have released VS 2, the second version of their visual synthesizer for macOS and Windows. We reviewed the original VS in SOS April 2023, which you can read here. The Portuguese developers say this update comes informed by user feedback, introducing a redesigned interface, expanded creative tools and better all-round performance.

New features include a streamlined media-style UI with consolidated layer controls, audio-reactive visualisers such as waveform and spectrogram displays, and a new preset playlist function with automatic timed playback, fade transitions and MIDI triggering. VS 2 also adds live input support for Syphon, Spout (both being real-time video-sharing frameworks for macOS/Windows) and camera feeds, along with a new text material tool, enhanced MIDI mapping, and recursive visual routing for effects such as fractals and motion trails. Export is now supported at up to 4K resolution in both landscape and portrait formats.

All existing expansion packs are fully compatible, and presets from the original VS can be imported. Imaginando notes that custom shader materials may require small adjustments.

Pricing & Availability

VS 2 is available now, priced at €99, with an upgrade offer for existing VS owners at €39.

Introductory discounts run until 31 December 2025, when the full-version price goes to €129 and the upgrade to €49.
