Slate Digital’s Virtual Mix Rack collection has proved to be a popular addition to the company’s line-up, offering a modular processing solution that acts as a virtual equivalent to a 500-series setup. Now, the company have announced that they will be making its modules available as individual standalone plug-ins, which are to be released under the collective title of Virtual Modules. The first modules to benefit are FG-Stress and Virtual Console Collection, which are available now, and the company will eventually offer a total of 36 independent modules following a staggered release schedule.
The company say that their decision to offer the modules as standalone plug-ins is a direct response to longstanding user feedback and usage data. While the Virtual Mix Rack environment provides powerful channel-strip functionality, many customers have expressed a desire for the flexibility and convenience of being able to use the contained modules as single plug-ins. With the launch of Virtual Modules, that wish has been granted, with producers and engineers can able to utilise their favourite processors directly in their DAW without needing to load them within the VMR ‘rack’.
"For years, our users have asked for the ability to use our VMR modules as individual plug-ins, and we're thrilled to finally deliver on that request. This release isn’t about changing what makes VMR great; it's about giving our users more power and flexibility.” - Alexandre Vaneph, Product Manager, Slate Digital
The Virtual Modules retain all the features and functionality of their VMR counterparts, including oversampling and external side-chaining for dynamic processors, and promise to deliver the smoothest user experience yet. The new plug-ins boast a continuous scaling option, and it’s also possible to seamlessly share presets between the new standalone and original VMR versions.

Virtual Modules are supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 10.15 and later. VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
