In addition to their range of Kontakt instruments, Sonora Cinematic have recently introduced a selection of products designed for Audiomodern’s free Soundbox software. Their latest addition to the range has just arrived, and is one of the few orchestral collections currently available for the MPE-capable platform.
Transfigured Orchestra Vol 1: The Quiet Ensemble captures the sound of a full string ensemble along with woodwind and brass instruments, all performing a variety of articulations. All of the included instruments are merged into 30 curated presets that have been designed to provide composers and producers with a versatile collection of sounds.
As its title suggests, this first release focuses on intimate, softer sounds. From single instrumental sections to cinematic orchestral combinations and hybrid soundscapes, the presets feature the likes of pianissimo and sordino strings alongside soft French horns and clarinets. Flutter-tonguing woodwinds, meanwhile, offer a great way to create organic-sounding movement, while a selection of granular transformations of the horn and string ensembles provide hybrid, haunting textures.
Compatibility
Transfigured Orchestra Vol 1: The Quiet Ensemble runs in the free Soundbox player, which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
