Following on from the launch of their Snare Mic, Lauten Audio have announced the release of their next drum-focused offering, the Tom Mic. Employing a newly designed supercardioid capsule and offering up to 28dB of off-axis rejection, the mic has been designed to deliver crisp-sounding results while keeping cymbal bleed to a minimum.
Much as the Snare Mic was designed specifically for its use on snare drums, the Tom Mic has been voiced for the task at hand, and aims to deliver the best-sounding results possible without the need for excessive EQ. The physical design of its head combined with dual-bias circuitry helps to combat bleed from cymbals, and built-in high- and low-pass filters are present, both of which offer a choice of two different frequencies or can be left bypassed entirely. As you’d expect with any microphone designed to be placed directly above a drum head, the Tom Mic’s all-important capsule and circuitry are housed in a robust body capable of protecting it from wandering sticks.
