Universal Audio’s range of guitar pedals has been steadily growing since the first models were unveiled a couple of years ago, and the company are showing no signs of letting up! The latest arrival to the series has just been announced, capturing a range of high-gain tones that powered the hits of a whole host of punk, rock and metal acts including Foo Fighters, Incubus, Nevermore, Dream Theatre and more.
The Knuckles ’92 Rev F Dual Rec Amplifier is based on a popular revision of Mesa/Boogie’s classic Dual Rectifier, capturing its green, orange and red channels and promising to deliver everything from perfect cleans to all-out high-gain lead tones. Further tonal options are provided by switchable EL34- and 6L6-based output stages and a choice of either solid-state or valve rectifiers, as well as built-in Tube Screamer-style overdrive, clean boost and noise gate processors. As with other offerings in the UAFX range, top-panel controls provide immediate hands-on access to the pedal’s key functions, with more in-depth tweaking available from the company’s mobile app.
In addition to its authentic amp modelling, Knuckles ’92 also benefits from a collection of six mic and speaker pairings used on classic 1990s rock and metal tracks, along with physical room modelling derived from Universal Audio’s award-winning OX Amp Top Box. There are three cabinet options available on the pedal by default: UK V30, a 4x12 British cabinet loaded with Celestion Vintage 30s; CA V30, an oversized American-made cabinet that also houses Vintage 30s; and White 75, a British 4x12 fitted with Celestion 75s. Three additional options available via the UAFX mobile app include a 1x12 EV12, a Celestion 80-equipped 4x12 and a 4x12 Brown.
