Tascam have announced the release of their Version 2.0 firmware update for the Portacapture X8 and X6 portable audio recorders. The new update brings a significant new feature in the form of the POCKETSTUDIO app.
The POCKETSTUDIO app turns the Portacapture devices into fully functional, pocket-sized multitrack recording studios, allowing users to record, mix, and bounce tracks on the go. This feature echoes the simplicity and functionality of Tascam’s legendary Portastudio.
The update introduces several core features. Users can take advantage of Punch In/Out and Overdub capabilities, allowing them to correct mistakes or add additional tracks with ease. The Bounce feature allows multiple recordings to be condensed into a single track, freeing up space for further layers of sound. Real-time mixdown capabilities also let users adjust parameters such as volume, pan, and EQ during the final stereo mix.
The app also features an intuitive interface which is designed for ease of use, preserving the layout familiar to Portastudio users, who can also enjoy real-time access to metronome and tuner functions while tracking.
